100 Book Challenge
It is exciting to once again have the 100 Book Challenge at Pinewood. It is wonderful to be putting top quality books into the hands of every child every day.

One aspect of100 BookChallengethat I love is that the books are intended to be fast, fun, and easy. Your child's teacher will find your son or daughter's independent reading level. This is the level of text your child can read and comprehend independently. Books at this level will come home in your child's blue bookbag every day. Reading at home and school is a partnership. We welcome your involvement! Do take time to talk about these books with your child.

It is our expectation that students read 30 minutes in school and 30 minutes at home every day. We measure our student’s reading practice in STEPS. One STEP = 15 minutes of reading. So each day, Pinewood students will read 2 steps at school and 2 steps at home. Students will be recording their number of steps on their reading logs. Parents are expected to sign the reading log each evening.

Thank you for your help in supporting your child's reading!

Please take time to enjoy reading with your child throughout this year.
