Elementary School

General Information

Welcome to Pinewood Elementary School!

Our primary goal is to ensure equal access to an excellent educational program in an integrated environment so students are challenged to reach their highest intellectual potential. Resources are directed to ensure students develop the communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), mathematical and problem-solving skills, study skills, and citizenship skills necessary as a foundation for living in a challenging society.

Pinewood Elementary School houses a student population of approximately 257 students, kindergarten through grade five. We have 12 full time regular classroom teachers, and we share several special area and support staff with other District sites which include teachers in the area of reading, art, library, music, and physical education. We also have support services teachers and paraprofessionals who assist students with special needs in the areas of early childhood intervention, learning disabilities, speech/language, emotional-behavioral disabilities, and adaptive physical education. A psychologist, social worker, 504 coordinator, and gifted and talented teacher are also available along with a principal, secretary, licensed practical nurse, classroom paraprofessionals, food service employee, maintenance engineers, and a registered nurse who supervises our health care.

Pinewood strives to provide a positive learning environment that is safe, orderly, and focused on student success. While each student has the right to an education, they also have the responsibility to respect the rights of other students. Pinewood's expectation is for all students to act in a safe manner, be respectful of all persons, property, and to be prepared for their daily learning tasks. Our school's discipline policy is designed to set limits so that all students know what is expected of them as their contribution to a productive learning environment.
